Introduction to Our Pupil Premium Strategy
At Moorside Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that every child, regardless of their background or circumstances, has the opportunity to reach their full potential and achieve excellent outcomes.
The pupil premium is a grant given to schools to close the attainment gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers, and to support pupils with parents in the armed forces. We recognise that disadvantaged pupils can face a range of challenges that may act as barriers to their learning and achievement, and we are determined to address these through targeted, evidence-based interventions and support.

This strategy document sets out how we will use our pupil premium funding to:
• Identify and address the specific challenges facing our disadvantaged pupils at Moorside Primary School
• Implement high-quality teaching and targeted interventions that are proven to be effective in improving outcomes
• Support the wider needs of our pupils, including their social, emotional and behavioural development
• Monitor and evaluate impact rigorously to ensure our funding makes a real difference

Our approach follows the DfE's recommended 5-step approach: identifying challenges, using evidence, developing our strategy, delivering and monitoring, and evaluating impact. We have carefully considered research evidence, particularly from the Education Endowment Foundation, alongside our detailed knowledge of our pupils' needs to develop a strategy that will have the greatest impact.
We believe that high-quality teaching is the most important lever schools have to improve outcomes for disadvantaged pupils, and our strategy prioritises this alongside targeted academic support and wider strategies to address non-academic barriers to learning.
This is a living document that we review annually to ensure it continues to meet the needs of our pupils. We are committed to transparency and accountability and welcome any questions about how we are using pupil premium funding to support our children.
